Common outdoor places to visit in New Zealand
Bay of Islands
The Bay of Islands is located 3.5 hours north of Auckland. There are over a hundred and forty subtropical small islands in the Bay of Islands that boast the best of New Zealand’s beaches. Taking a cruise through the Bay of Islands is a great way to see the area. You can view the coloured waters, the island chain, and the thick vegetation from a boat. You will see all these andlearn about the area’s history and its significance to Maoris.
The Coromandel Peninsula is a beautiful beach on North Island. Located on the coast of the Pacific, this peninsula offers lots of beautiful beaches.
In addition to its beautiful beaches, the Coromandel offers some noteworthy attractions like a large cave, Cathedral Cove and Hot Water Beach, where you can dig your hot tub in the sand, and Pinnacles Walk, with panoramic views of the coastline.
As many New Zealanders know, Hobbiton is one of the best-known sights in the country. It’s easy to see why Hobbiton is one of the most photographed locations in New Zealand. Taking photos in hobbit homes and manicured garden at Hobbiton is a must for any Lord of the Rings or Hobbit fan.
Rotorua is known for its geothermal activities. You can enjoy a walk along the stunning lakefront or a stroll through the gardens in Rotorua city. A gondola offers panoramic views of the region, and the Whakarewarewa Forest, where you can find houses giant California Redwood trees.
Tongariro National Park
Tongariro National Park is something everyone should see when visiting New Zealand. These volcanoes make for a unique landscape unlike any other placemaking them a perfect place to take photos. LOTR fans will be familiar with Mount Ngauruhoe (known as Mt Doom for its similarity to Mt Doom in The Lord of the Rings) and the emerald lakes in Tongariro National Park.
